Mary Shelley
Frankenstein
This edition of Frankenstein uses the original 1818 text, Mary Shelley’s first published version of the story. It offers a more direct and unfiltered look at her vision, before any later revisions or editorial changes were introduced.
By returning to the 1818 edition, we aimed to preserve the story’s original tone: thoughtful, unsettling, and morally complex. It’s the version that first challenged readers to consider the consequences of unchecked ambition, isolation, and responsibility.
The interior was designed to give the story space to breathe, with generous margins, clean typography, and a layout that invites you in without distraction. Colucci’s illustrations are woven throughout, adding atmosphere and weight to the novel’s most pivotal and emotionally charged scenes. The edition is presented in a Wibalin Buckram–wrapped hardcover with a matching slipcase, both intentionally designed to follow the transformation from concept to creation.
